Remoting onto a Server From College

Yesterday I combined Remote Desktop and virtual machine setup;

 I sat on a computer when all the work was done and installed windows server 2008 r2 on a virtual machine on my server from college, I then proceeded to install windows 7 which took me the entire journey to mine to do, I found that certain aspects are laggy due to issues with upload speeds and the machines end itself.

Many components would go laggy due to this, also bearing in mind everyone’s traffic is heavily shaped in college, to ensure equal bandwidth allocation of the 300 up /300 down speed and this may have quite heavily impacted on the access to the machine at home too (even over LAN) and attributed to the slow transfer along side the puny 1mbps upload I get at my home address.

For several lessons now I have forgotten to bring in my files so I have had to remote into my home computer and transfer the directories to my college account, this has been painful but I have been successful in doing so each time.
