Computing – Week 2

This week I have been researching remote desktop, but more specifically:

* Remote Desktop (Windows)

* Screen Sharing (OSX)

* Teamviewer (Universal)

The thought that you can remote into a working computer from another network entirely is quite fascinating, I have been trying to create a linux distribution cd in order to boot and connect to remote desktops, thereby using the resources of the server and making the client machine faster, I ran into issues so left it for a time when I have more time on my hands,

I plan to buy a thin client to test out the useability of the remote desktop setup on my mac osx server (currently an open directory server, file store, time machine backup, website host and caching server.)

PART 2 – Virtual Machines

I have also been fascinated by how virtual machines work and how the vmware servers function, I have been creating virtual machines to test this out and I plan to learn active directory through vmware fusion by running server and windows 7 at the same time on the same network interface (Virtual NIC), then if all goes to plan to buy the equipment and build it into my existing infrastructure (A mac pro, two routers and a switch.)

Thanks For Reading, Finn
